Santa High School from Domboshava recently organized an educational visit to the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) to inspire students in the fields of science and engineering. A group of 80 enthusiastic students and five dedicated staff members toured the institute’s campus on Friday, 04 April 2025, where they engaged with cutting-edge technologies and innovations.
The purpose of the tour was to expose students to various areas of interest, including engineering labs, the computer science department, manufacturing and robotics labs, and workshops focused on automotive and mechanical engineering. “The aim of this tour is to provide our students with hands-on experience and insight into the latest technologies for which your institution is renowned,” stated T. Matongo, the trip organizer.
During the visit, students participated in guided tours of different facilities, allowing them to interact with faculty members and industry professionals. A career guidance and counseling session was also held, introducing students to the various academic programmes available at HIT. This initiative aimed not only to enhance their academic knowledge but also to encourage them to consider future careers in STEM fields.
“This visit has opened our eyes to the many possibilities that lie ahead. We are thankful for this opportunity,” remarked one student after the tour.
The visit underscored the significance of practical learning experiences in shaping the educational journeys of young learners, especially as they prepare for futures in an increasingly technological world.
