HIT Board Chairperson Dr Grace Taruvinga was adjudged as the overall best performer in the Universities Council Chairpersons category at the 2024 Performance Evaluation Results and signing ceremony, while HIT Vice Chancellor Professor Engineer Q.C Kanhukamwe was adjudged as the Runner-Up for best-performing University Vice Chancellor.
The event was presided over by the President, His Excellency Cde. E.D Mnangagwa.
Speaking at the event, President Mnangagwa said the various mandates that the public sector is discharging should be reflective of the will of the people of Zimbabwe and undertaken in their interest. “Individually and collectively, we all must empower and uplift many more of our fellow country men and women, the young and the old alike, as well as our boys and girls, out of poverty into prosperity,” the President said.
In March 2024, 25 Ministers, 26 Permanent Secretaries, 125 Chief Executive Officers and 123 Board Chairpersons of Public Entities, and 92 Chief Executive Officers and Council Chairpersons/Mayors of Local Authorities signed Performance Contracts in the presence of His Excellency, the President, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa.
His Excellency, President Dr E.D Mnangagwa introduced performance-based contracts as a way of fostering a high-performance culture among office bearers to enhance accountability and good governance.
