HIT EXHIBITS AT THE INAUGURAL FARM TO MARKET AND ARTS FESTIVAL

The Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) participated in the inaugural Farm to Market and Arts Festival, showcasing its research and development outputs in the food value chain and establishing new collaborations with various stakeholders.
The festival was held at the Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare on May 18th and 19th, 2024. Conceptualized by Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, the event was a great success, highlighting Zimbabwe’s food value chain and promoting the country’s agriculture, arts, crafts, and cultural heritage.
HIT presented its research and development outputs from its Food and Processing Technology and Biotechnology departments and its University farm produce and Canteen services. The Institute also formed new connections and collaborations with various stakeholders.
The festival provided a platform for producers, agro-processors, distributors, artisans, fashion designers, and cultural enthusiasts to connect and establish beneficial business relationships. The event attracted a large crowd that enjoyed a wide range of exhibits, performances, and culinary delights.
The Guest of Honour, First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, emphasized the festival’s importance in promoting Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector and tourism. The event is expected to become an annual platform for showcasing the country’s agricultural products and rich cultural heritage.
HIT’s participation at the festival was a testament to its commitment to innovation and community engagement. By showcasing its research outputs and establishing new connections with industry stakeholders, HIT demonstrated its ability to contribute to the development of Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector, in line with Vision 2030.
