The Harare Institute of Technology’s (HIT) Technopreneurship Development Centre (TDC) recently organized a two-day Design Thinking and Technopreneurship Curriculum Review Workshop.
The workshop was held from 18 -19 March 2024 at the Innovation Hub. It was led by experienced facilitators from various fields and attended by stakeholders from industry and commerce, as well as HIT alumni. The participants provided valuable insights into redesigning the centre’s curriculum.
During the workshop, participants gained new ideas and perspectives on integrating design thinking principles into the curriculum. Ms. Makanzwa Masunda, the Chairperson, expressed excitement about the progress made, stating that the workshop exceeded expectations in terms of generating innovative strategies for curriculum enhancement.
Lead facilitator Edward Jurkovich from the Prestigious University of Notre Dame in the United States of America highlighted the collaborative nature of the workshop, which brought together a diverse group of individuals to prioritize action items for curriculum improvement. “We collaborated with faculty, students, alumni, industry, and commerce to explore how HIT can bring to life aspirations for curriculum enhancement. We compiled a comprehensive list of key areas for potential change, which we then translated into actionable steps and prioritized the most impactful and feasible measures to further enrich the curriculum,” he explained.
By leveraging the collective expertise of faculty, students, alumni, and industry partners, the workshop aimed to create a roadmap for enhancing technopreneurship education at HIT.
