The Harare Institute of Technology has entered into an agreement of cooperation in science and education with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).
The agreement will run for an initial five-year period and can be renewed for further five years.
The field of cooperation between the two Universities include the exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students, research development, education, training, transfer of technology and dissemination of knowledge, mutual assistance in the establishment of new programmes, exchange of information and publications, organizing conferences and workshops, vocational trainings.
Cooperation will also include the creation and development of a cluster approach for regional education in medicine, engineering and natural sciences using the direct and distant forms as well as the development of relations on youth student cooperation.
The agreement was signed by the Peoples’ Friendship University’s Vice Rector for International Affairs, Efremova Larisa Ivanovna and HIT Vice Chancellor Dr. Eng. Q.C Kanhukamwe in Harare during the recent Russian delegation’s visit to Zimbabwe.
RUDN University is a multidisciplinary university, uniting more than 33 thousand undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, residents and interns from 157 countries.
Multinationality is one of the main features of the university. The multi-level system of higher education (bachelor’s, master’s, post-graduate (PhD programs) and residency) at 5 faculties, 11 institutes and 1 academy provide students with opportunities for quality education.
RUDN University has more than 150 educational programmes with leading foreign universities. In 2018, more than 800 students took part in academic exchange programmes with leading foreign universities. The university has traditionally strong scientific schools in areas such as mathematics, physics, medicine, chemistry and foreign languages.
RUDN University conducts research in the field of medical microbiology, pharmacy, fine chemistry, green infrastructure, remote sensing of the Earth, quality control of medicines and engineering technologies.
