Applications are invited for admission into Part 1 of the B Tech (Hons) Degree in Materials Technology and Engineering Programme. Candidates should possess:
At least 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Chemistry/Physics or any other equivalent subject
A National Diploma (ND) in Materials Technology and Engineering or its equivalent plus two years post qualification experience
A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Materials Technology and Engineering or its equivalency.
Overview
Materials Technology and Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that involves the processing, synthesis, modification, selection, and application of engineering materials to meet the specific functions in our diverse society. The field is concerned with the design, manufacture, and use of all classes of materials (including metals, ceramics, composites, semi-conductors, polymers, and biomaterials) to address key national economic issues such as energy, mining, agriculture, environmental, health and manufacturing. The unique HIT Materials Technology and Engineering programme produces cadres with the ability to develop new materials and improve existing processes for producing materials to achieve better utilization and beneficiation of resources.
