University Honours Presidential Clean Up Declaration

In compliance with the Presidential Clean-Up Declaration by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, staff of the Harare Institute of Technology gathered on Friday 4 January 2019 to observe the exercise from 8am.

Staff took to cleaning the university environs as part of broader efforts to promote a clean, safe and healthy environment in the spirit of the Declaration.

The clean-up exercise was an endorsement of His Excellency's call for zero-tolerance to litter, and that the University was committed to maintaining a litter-free campus, and upholding a culture of cleanliness.

According to the HIT Vice Chancellor Eng. Kanhukamwe, cleanliness is an important part of brand building and through these efforts, Government and its stakeholders are set to play a meaningful role in building brand Zimbabwe.

The exercise involves cleaning the university environs as part of broader efforts to promote a clean, safe and healthy environment in the spirit of the Declaration by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa.

On December 5 last year, President Mnangagwa declared the first Friday of every month a National Clean-up Day, after the successful launching the National Clean-Up Campaign under the theme "Zero Tolerance to Litter - My Environment, My Pride" in and all citizens are expected to clean their surroundings between 8am and 10am. He has been leading by example since then, leading the clean-up in Highfields and streets around Fife Avenue Shops in Harare.

This event is also being marked concurrently in other areas across the country by Government departments, corporates, civic authorities and individuals.
