Strategic Plan Presentations: Phase 2

Another Strategic Planning Workshop was held on campus where the University's several strategic units and service centres presented their action plans which in alignment to Education 5.0, Industry 4.0. and the country’s VISION 2030 that aims to transform Zimbabwe into a modern industrialised and middle-income economy by 2030.

The Technology Transfer and Commercialization Centre, Technology Centre, Information and Communications Services Department, Communications and international Relations, Infrastructure and Real Estate Department, Library and Information Services as well as Student Affairs presented their strategic action plans which were discussed by the participants and facilitated by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr . M. Chanakira.

The workshop was attended by Senior Management Staff, Deans of the the four Schools, Deputy Registrars, Heads of the various Centres of Excellency, strategic units, service centres and Departmental chairpersons.

In his opening remarks, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Chanakira said these strategic planning workshops are aimed at mapping the strategic direction that the University is taking, explaining the details of how HIT will get there, assessing the key performance indicators."This workshop will also analyze and discuss the various aspects of the presentations with a view to improve them," he said.

Vice Chancellor Eng. Q.C Kanhukamwe gave an overview of the Institute's Strategic Plan - Vision 2020 "Designing the Future" in which he emphasized that HIT must be responsive to national development and there is need to prepare ourselves and our students in the industrialization of Zimbabwe. "HIT is Education 5.0 and we need to take a transformative approach in our various Centres of Excellency, service centres, strategic units and our various departments. We need to open our innovations for impactive startups which should contribute to national development as we must rise and lead in Industry 5.0," he said.
