Obituary: Felicity Remembered!

The Chaplaincy recently held a memorial service for the late Felicity Wadzwanya, a student in the Polymer Technology and Engineering department who passed on late last year.

Speaking at the event, Pro Vice Chancellor of HIT, Dr Maxwell Chanakira implored the HIT community to take comfort in God’s will for our lives, as well as to celebrate her life and the lives that she touched. He said her passing on, gave us a unique opportunity to reflect on our lives and rededicate and recommit ourselves to pursuing goodness and perfection. He added that Felicity’s parents, as having fortitude and strength to accept God’s will.  Her father, Mr Wadzvanywa said God gives and God takes and the family was now moving forward with hope and faith.

The service was punctuated with the University Choir who sang in Achapella, “Kana Jesu  Achidzoka.

A friend, Loyce Zimucha said Felicity loved God, was a great listener, and a person with great determination. She said she had been robbed of a friend and a Scripture was quoted from Revelations 14 verse 13 and Mathew 25 verse 14 to 26, with Pastor Gwaze’s message based on the need for us to reconcile ourselves with God. He commended the student body for their unity, love and support for each other.

In his Vote of Thanks, Eng. Chikurunhe, lecturer in the Polymer Technology and Engineering department expressed his appreciation to the University administration, the Division of Student Affairs and the Student body for their support for Felicity during her illness and over the duration of her funeral.
