ZIMLIBRARY Open Day

The Zimbabwe Library Association (ZIMLA) held its ZIMLIBRARY Open Day on 21 February 2019 in ZIMRE Park, which was officiated by HIT Senior Librarian and Chairperson of Mashonaland Branch Mr Macdonald Nhakura.

In his official speech, Mr Nhakura highlighted that Zimbabwe Library Association (ZimLA) is the professional association that represents the interests of library and information professionals in Zimbabwe and its major thrust is to foster cooperation among and between these information practitioners, academics and other interest persons in the sector to enhance professional development. “There is need to promote good practices in the LIS profession and offer staff development and training programmes to equip these professionals with new skills as well as to re-tool and improve existing skills and knowledge base,“he said

The association also launched its publication, ZimLA News with a mission to keep Zimbabwe Librarians informed and also informing international librarians about developments in Zimbabwe.
