The Harare Institute of Technology in collaboration with the Indian Embassy has established an Indian Book Corner in the Institute Library.
According to the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Mr Rungsung Masakui, the government of India is donating books about Indian culture, philosophy and traditions to institutional libraries in friendly nations. "HIT is the first beneficiary in Zimbabwe and is getting 78 books and more books are coming in the near future for other institutions. we hope that students will read these books and will be informed on how India has evolved, Indian, culture,traditions, values, philosophy and prominent personalities. Thank you for establishing the Indian Book Corner," he said.
In his acceptance remarks, HIT Vice Chancellor, Eng. Q.C Kanhukamwe said this is an affirmation of the good relations between the Indian and Zimbabwean governments. "This is a reminder of our irrevocable ties and we have much to learn from the Indian education, industry and the development of the Indian nation. HIT is ready to work in research collaborations with Indian institutions. We humbly accept this gesture of goodwill through the establishment of the Indian Book Corner in our Library," he said.
