HIT Enters into MoU with Amity University, Gurgaon

The Harare Institute of Technology has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Amity University, Gurgaon, India effective from 15 January 2015.

The MoU will run for five years.

The agreement is focused on staff development (pursuance of Master of Technology degrees and doctoral studies), exploring possibilities of joint twinning in degree programmes, joint programmes in research and development  including publications, patents, utility models, and trademarks, and the creation of centres of excellence in specialized fields of mutual interest in science, technology, Engineering and mathematics.

Under staff development, the MoU will see the admission of HIT staff at the Amity University, Gurgaon, in Master of Technology degrees and doctoral studies.  

Over the past years, the Harare Institute of Technology has entered into various memoranda of understanding with institutions of great repute from India, Iran, and South Korea among others. The agreements seek to further strengthen the HIT brand and consolidate the institutions’ international standing and reputation within the global community of universities.

Upon his installation as the first Vice Chancellor of the Harare Institute of Technology, Engineer Quinton Kanhukamwe unveiled his ten point plan which would guide the operations of the Harare Institute of Technology during his tenure. Point five of the ten point plan speaks to the need to consolidate capacity building initiatives already underway by increasing D. Tech and M. Tech staff development opportunities as well as identifying and hiring staff in areas of strategic priority.  Point nine outlines the growth of the national and global profile of the institution through the escalation of partnerships.
