Chancellor of State Universities Staff Games 2015

Two HIT staffers Darlington Katsande and Sungai Mazando won silver medals at the recently held Chancellor of State Universities Staff Games.

The games were held under the theme – Supporting ZIMASSET Through Sport at the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT).

Katsande of the Food Processing and Technology Department won a silver medal in the 100 metres Athletics Above 80Kg Category while Mazando of the Biotechnology Department won a silver medal in Table Tennis Men's Final.

The HIT Team of more than 25 athletes participated in soccer, netball, chess, athletics, Pool and Table Tennis.

Representing the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Hon. Emmerson M'nangagwa, the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Hon. Douglas Mombeshora encouraged state universities to have active participation in sports development and to erect robust elaborate and resilient sports infrastructure that will last.

"I therefore call for discipline in all sporting activities as well as to accord sport its due significance as a source of entertainment, stimulant for good health and that every university should have a sporting afternoon where everyone should be encouraged to participate", he said.
